MOSCOW, Apr 13 (PRIME) -- The Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague has ordered Russia to pay U.S. $5 billion to Ukrainian energy company Naftogaz Ukrainy for asset loss in Crimea, CEO Alexei Chernyshov said on Thursday.
"The Arbitration tribunal has ordered the Russian Federation to compensate losses of U.S. $5 billion to Naftogaz. The case concerned the outcome of a capture of our assets in Crimea by Russia in 2014," Chernyshov said.
According to the executive, if Russia refuses to fulfill the court orders voluntarily, Naftogaz Ukrainy will have the right to ask for forced fulfillment on the territory of the states, where Russian assets are located.
Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia will analyze the court ruling.
"The litigation indeed took place, there is nothing new. The new thing was the ruling that we must analyze, and our experts taking care of our rights in this case will analyze and decide on further actions," the official said.
